Apparently NC must be in the heart of the Arctic Tundra as they have gotten another 6+ inches of snow to bring their total to >1 foot. We just had flurries here but it was enough to keep us inside while Erik and I took down the Christmas trees and decorations.
We left the outside wreaths up because I like the look of the house with some wintery greens. Erik and dad were able to tie up the trees so our first tree in the dining room fit nicely into a tree bag (however, if anyone has a Christmas tree box, I would love to have it to try to fit the tree back into the box to stack better in our basement.....please!?!?!?!).
The living room tree fit nicely back into it's box, again after some careful tying. We put away all the ornaments back into their boxes and took down most of the major decor except for some candles and snowman plushies.
I also worked on a craft with Brooklyn where I painted her hand with white paint and put her handprint on an ornament (which when I have time, I will turn into a cute little family of snowmen)....however, now I'm on the lookout for clear glass ornaments (please please let me know if you see any) so that I can fill them with fake snow and use them as G-rents gifts next year. It will also be a nice annual thing to do with B. I used the colored glass ornaments but the paint on the glass wipes off too easily for my wanting to have these ornaments for life.
Mom and I ventured out to Lowe's to pick out some ceramic tile for their backsplash in the kitchen (along with carpet...they need new carpet before a kitchen redo). We then went to Babies R Us because Slickdeals had a post about diapers at BRU...of course, they only had size 5 and 6 diapers and I'd love to have the child potty trained by then (okay, probably not realistic but I'd rather stock up on hundreds of size 3 and 4s).
When we came back, we had dinner downstairs and then watched Star Trek. This is officially my last night to relax before I have to go to work.....ugh....this is so bittersweet!
